Eventide Instant Phaser Prototype.
Dating from 1971, this Eventide is of historic importance: it has been confirmed as being one of the first two built by Richard Factor. As the Instant Phaser was the first rackmount studio effect, this unit here is one of the very first two pro audio rack units ever made!
INFORMATION FROM THE SELLER:
The PSU in this unit has been recapped and one IC replaced to get it working, all else was left original. All of the lamps with the exception of the phasing light were not originally installed in the unit - in fact, there is a wire hanging out that was never even soldered. I did install some lamps in the existing holes to at least plug them up, but they are merely held in with a rubber washer and could be removed. I did hook up the power indicator lamp.
Since it did not come with a top, I made one out of acrylic so the buyer can always take a look at the insides of such an historical unit.
Seller has emails from Richard and Tony at Eventide confirming this to be one of the original prototypes - the Letraset text, the components selection and layout, and the dead giveaway of Richard's handwriting on the back (in Tony's words) all corroborate its origin. As far as we know, this is the only one that has survived with the production line circuit. Eventide does have an earlier prototype half rack thing, but it does not have the all pass filters Richard eventually used.
